OK, dream-interpreters - explain this…

Really odd dream last night. I was organising a multi-day stage race but instead of having stage towns, each stage started and stopped at the river source nearest to a stage town regularly used by other famous races. The reason for this was to make some joke based on the term “Rundfahrt,” the logic behind the joke never becoming apparent in the dream.
